What is Black Friday?

For those not familiar, it is the day after Thanks Giving in the US and for over a decade now has been the busiest shopping day of they year over there.

Now the craze has moved across the Atlantic and Black Friday is one of the two busiest shopping days on the calendar.

When is Black Friday?

As previously mentioned, Black Friday occurs the day after Thanksgiving which falls on Thursday 24 November so Black Friday this year will happen on Friday 25 November 2016.

Why is it called Black Friday?

Good question, and one that there isn’t a definitive answer too. Many think that it’s because businesses see huge profit on the day hence the ‘into the black’ term as opposed to losses which would be coloured in red.

Or maybe it’s because it’s also hell on earth for people who work in retail and anyone who has a strong distaste to shopping.

What can I buy on Black Friday?

What CAN’T you buy more like? Retailers will do anything to get hold of your money so if it can be sold for cheap then it will be sold for cheap. Expect ludicrous deals on TVs, laptops, iPads, Xboxes and even holidays.

I am lazy can you point me in the direction of great deals?

Sure thing, but it’s not as straightforward as that sadly. Finding the best deals requires an eagle eye and regular checking on the day. With some sites like Currys PC World you have to register interest beforehand, such is the high demand for reduced gear.

Best Amazon Black Friday 2016 deals for Wedensday 16 November

Black Friday might still be just over 10 days away but that hasn’t stopped retail giant Amazon from gearing up for the big day.

At midnight on Monday 14 November, it kicked off its annual Black Friday festivities.

Deals run until 23:59 on Friday 25th November, with new products becoming available as often as every five minutes.

Best Tesco Black Friday Deals 2016

The countdown is on over on their website. There is an offers section and a clearance section.

Last year Tesco went all out on tech deals for Black Friday, knocking two-thirds off the price of tablets, laptops Beats headphones and mobile phones.

This year The Mirror expect a similar strategy from the supermarket giant, as they go head-to-head with other major high street retailers like Argos and Sainsbury's - with online becoming the most favourable way for customers to access the deals.

You'll be able to track down the latest offers by visiting the retailer's official Black Friday page come November 25.
Best Argos Black Friday Deals 2016

While Black Friday isn't until November 25, Argos will be kicking off their extravaganza a week before. Black Friday sales at Argos begin on November 18.

Their sales will then run for the following 13 days, a near two weeks of cheap TV madness.
